Just joined Stage 32 today, and I'm excited to dive in and learn everything I can about becoming a screenwriter. I have a ton of ideas, but my biggest struggle is finishing one script before jumping into the next — definitely working on that.
I was recently named a semi-finalist in the Showcase Script Competition for my pilot White Eyes. It was actually the first script I ever wrote, so the recognition was a surprise — especially since it could’ve used a bit more polish before I submitted it.
From what I’ve read so far, this community seems to be an incredible resource, and I’m here to absorb as much as possible. If you have any advice on what to focus on — whether it’s collaboration, writing for experience, or other ways to grow — I’m all ears. I’m open to connecting, learning, and improving. Looking forward to meeting everyone, and thanks for your time!

Aaron Blea, welcome to the wonderful world of Stage 32. I am fairly new here. However, what I have learned throughout my life that many of my best moments come from unexpected sources. I look at everything as a possible inspiration. That has to do with how my mind is wired. Even so, I will give you an example. I can walk through town and I start imagining what might have happened there in the past, what might happen in the future. I look at someone and imagine what their story might be. My mind is wide open to everything.

Hey, Aaron Blea. Welcome to the community. Congratulations on being named a semi-finalist in the Showcase Script Competition! For your first script is really impressive!

Something that helps me when I want to jump into another project without finishing the one I'm working on is write an outline or short script version of the new idea to get it off my mind, then focus on my main project.

Welcome Aaron Blea ! and congrats on the semi-finalist win! You're obviously on the right path - and from what I've read on your website, you have an excellent perspective on the craft. A few ideas:
- first, Stage 32 is a great place to start pitching your pilot, White Eyes. Feedback from that alone is an education in screenwriting as a career/business & of course, as craft. There's many great OnDemand webinars also on crafting a pitch or join the Writer's Room for really hands on practice.
- I love Maurice's tip on dealing with the ever present/ever new ideas that flood our brain. And it's not wrong to work on more than one idea at a time. But, at least for me, I learned the wisdom of two things over time: if you have more than three priorities you don't have any; and, as is advised when learning foreign languages, it helps if the projects are very different from each other.
Excited for your journey here! Cheers

Hi! The biggest challenge for a screenwriter is selling their script or finding funding for their film.
