What Type of of Screenwriting Labs Do You Want Next Year at Stage 32?

Hey screenwriters!

We’re starting to plan our 2026 labs, and I want to hear from YOU.

What kinds of screenwriting labs would you love to see next year? Are you looking for five-part labs, eight-part deep dives, or maybe an extended 12-part lab?

What do you want to write in these labs?

Your input matters — it helps us create programs that truly fit your goals, your schedule, and your storytelling dreams. Drop your thoughts in the comments below, and let’s make 2026 the year you level up your writing!

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, Sydney S! An anthology feature script lab.

Michael David

One for advanced screenwriters

Sydney S

Hey, Maurice! Appreciate your reply :) can you elaborate more on anthology?

Sydney S

Hey Michael! Love to hear it! Are you thinking a specific genre or type of project for advanced screenwriters, maybe a rewrite or even a big feature film? I’d love to hear more so we can see what you’re looking for !

Maurice Vaughan

A lab on outlining and writing an anthology feature script, Sydney S, like The Ballad of Buster Scruggs or Creepshow.

Priya Mistry

A lab which can deeply dive into rewriting process.

Michael David

Sydney S I'm thinking more next-level writing skills, or even tips, about how to make a screenplay that already understands beats, dialogue, etc. be even better, There are many webinars here that rehash the same Hero's Journey or Story Structure information, and it would be great if something could be "next level", like what do we do when we already understand Structure/Dialogue and Character Development but don't know how to improve your writing next.

Michael David

While we're at it, it may be prudent for S32 to have another Screenwriting Lounge for advanced writers who have already sold/optioned their screenplays to focus on their professional development. It would be exciting to see novice writers move from a beginners screenwriting Lounge to an advanced Lounge.

Sydney S

Thank you for the suggestion, Maurice! That sounds like such a fun and unique idea...an anthology feature lab would be amazing. I love your examples too, they really capture the vibe. I’ll keep this in mind as we plan upcoming labs!

Sydney S

This is awesome, Priya! Thank you for commenting. Are you thinking about a lab focused on rewriting for TV, film, or both? I love the idea of a deep dive into the rewriting process!

Sydney S

Hey Michael! I love this - Focusing on next-level writing skills and ways to take a screenplay that already “gets it” to the next level is such a smart idea. I understand what you mean about too many webinars covering the same Hero’s Journey or basic story structure info. Noted on know how to improve your writing next.

I also really like your idea of an advanced Screenwriting Lounge for writers who’ve sold or optioned scripts. Great idea for a lounge too for where professional-level writers can focus on growth and development while helping guide those moving from beginner to advanced. I’ll make sure your suggestions are noted as we plan upcoming programs. Thank you so much for sharing!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Sydney S. Ok, thanks.

Michael David

You're amazing, Sydney S thanks so much! I can really see S32 improving daily!

Sydney S

Have a great IYW Maurice :)

Sydney S

Aww thank you Michael!! Makes my whole day to hear you can see us improving daily :) Always here for suggestions and improvements!!

Maurice Vaughan

Thanks, Sydney S. Have a great IYW too!

Priya Mistry

Hey , Sydney s. Yes . First few check list for rewriting in general suitable for any structure. (eg. scene description structure, specific verbs , grammer and spelling etc.) Then structure specific elements.(eg. character development arc for different structure , other important elements etc.) . So that while rewriting, the process can go list wise and result as less drafts and save the time.

Cynna Ael

I would love a couple of rewrite labs. Especially if you're building on a script that's gotten looked at or been asked for- it would be great to have labs where you can then bring it to the next level.

Sydney S

Hi, Priya! This is awesome, Thank you so much for sharing this! I really appreciate your thoughtful approach. I’m adding your suggestions to my list, it’s a great way to streamline the rewriting process and save time while keeping everything structured and polished.

Sydney S

Hi, Cynna! Thank you so much for sharing your idea! I’m adding it to my list, it’s such a great suggestion. I love the idea of rewrites that help writers bring their scripts to the next level. That kind of support can make such a difference in helping a project grow and shine.

Elle Bolan

I'd actually like to see labs deep diving into the unwritten parts of the script - subtext, tension, rhythm as a means to drive emotion, tone, atmosphere. Utilizing language in emotional and psychological rhythms for emotional clarity. I'd like to see material that elevates writing beyond correctness into greatness.

Sydney S

Hi, Elle! This is awesome! Love the idea...bringing this up to the team to see how we can incorporate labs that dive into subtext, tension, rhythm, and the emotional and psychological layers of storytelling. Appreciate you sharing this thoughtful insight!
