Lighthouses may be a remnant of a bygone era, but they still inspire fascination and nostalgia in those who visit them. In this short video, George Collins, a lighthouse keeper living on the Oregon Coast, explains his fascination for these structures and how they worked in an era before modern technology to keep sailing ships away from the treacherous coast. The video was produced for the Oregon Coast Aquarium's developing Oceanscape Network project. The Oceanscape Network is a new online resource designed for teens and teachers. The website will premiere in the summer of 2013, but you can visit the preview site now at http://oceanscape.aquarium.org.
