A young druid must call upon the powers of a Goddess he does not trust to overcome an evil that rivals the Devil himself.

SYNOPSIS:

Teaser – Iowa, Modern Day. After losing their parents in a tragic car accident, Lukas Reid and his young brother learn the arts of Druidic magic from their grandmother on the family farm. The farm happens to hide a hellish portal—from which a demon king is breaking free. Pitch – Following a tragic car accident, Lukas, a young farm boy from rural Iowa, lives with his grandparents on the family farm. He learns to control his Druidic powers (mostly telekinetic) from his blind grandmother while looking after his little brother. (Druids--in this story--worship the Earth Mother, or Gaia, and wield certain powers she grants them.) Magic aside, Lukas just wants to be a kid. He has a girlfriend and he wants to get past the first kiss. His grandmother floors him one night when she reveals a secret their family has kept for nearly two-hundred years: they hide an ancient, locked portal and protect the world from an evil as great as Satan that lies beyond. She frightens him further when she suggests it’s time for Lukas to accept an amulet of their Goddess, the Earth Mother, and in doing so accepting guardianship over the portal. Lukas isn’t ready. He’s still very much a boy: getting over the loss of his parents, looking after his brother, and falling in love with the girl next-door. And his grandmother said something suggesting that her blindness was caused by calling on the powers of their Goddess, which leaves him with only distrust in their deity. The following day, they hold a Birthday party for Lukas’s young brother. During the festivities, Lukas and his girlfriend share a first real kiss, he saves a young neighbors life with his gifts, and once again turns down his grandmother’s request to accept his duty as a druid. The day ends abruptly with an explosion that destroys the house and kills Lukas’s grandparents and his brother—an explosion caused by the evil beyond the portal. During a brief hiatus, Lukas masters his powers under the tutelage of Theo DeVille, whom he believes to be an old family friend. He reunites with his friends and learns that the portal is almost open. They learn how to reclose the portal while being stalked by the demon’s minions. Lukas learns he has a choice; when the portal opens fully, he can petition his Goddess for help or battle the demon himself—both options come with a steep price. Lukas chooses the hard option. Lukas defeats the demon with the aid of Theo, but is left burnt-out or soul-dark. He learns, too late, that his mentor was the Devil himself and plans to steal his soul. Lukas reveals then that he had accepted the Goddess into his heart at his family’s funeral. Together, Lukas and the Goddess send the Devil straight back to hell.
