Pilot Logline: In an alternate Victorian history, a 17-year-old rich society girl's life falls apart at the death of her father and circumstances force her into the London underworld, where her engineering talent as the Lady of Devices is all that will save her.

Series Logline: Lady Claire Trevelyan leads a double life navigating the London underworld and British high society. As the seasons progress, she uncovers the antagonist behind the assassination attempts and wars she prevents and reveals the conspiracy regarding her schoolmate’s strange disappearance.

SYNOPSIS:

Pilot Episode: From Lady of the Mansion to Lady of Devices

Lady Claire concocts tear gas in her finishing school lab and clears it out. She endures her classmates’ taunting and declares her wish to attend university and not debut in the fall. While driving home in her steam-powered car, street children accost her and she throws them some pennies. She barely misses a young nobleman’s carriage driving in the opposite direction. In the receiving line at her card party, one of the guests is Lord James, the nobleman whose vehicle she almost hit, greatly embarrassing her.

Claire enjoys learning to play “cowboy poker,” but bristles at Lord James’s attention. During Claire’s graduation reception, an explosion kills her father and Claire’s world falls apart.

With debt collectors at the door, Claire seeks employment, but turns down Andrew Malvern’s lab assistant position upon discovering James is funding it. When rioters loot her mansion, Claire races away in her car. The street children to whom she had earlier given money steal the car and all her belongings and knock her out.

But the children lose the car to a rival gang. When Claire comes to, she discovers the children’s hideout and retrieves most of her belongings with the help of homemade tear gas, the kind she made at school. In return for the rest of her things, and help getting her car back, she promises to teach the children to make the gas themselves. Claire becomes the Lady of Devices, high society girl by day, notorious gang leader by night.
