Screenwriting : Big first step by Krista Crawford

Krista Crawford

Big first step

Happy to share that I just took my first meeting with a production company that wants to turn one of my 60 minute pilots into a feature. Discussed the contract for a detailed feature synopsis (3 drafts) and the first right of refusal for the script and they are excited to work with me/looking to move on this. Definitely some welcome news!!

Mitch Ross

Congratulations!

Craig D Griffiths

Outstanding.

Have they made previous films? Same question for the director?

The reason I ask. Depending on their previous work, may give you insight for any rewrites. Plus you will get an idea of their previous success and the probably eventual quality of the film that comes from your script.

Congrats again. I hope it all goes amazingly for you.

I am attending a Zoom rehearsal next Thursday for “The Valley”. As much as I love writing, the production process is amazing.

Phil Parker

Congrats and best of luck it!

Thanks all! It's been very interesting! I'm having to restructure things quite a bit to make it flow as I change it from a 60 minute pilot to a feature but I'm up for the challenge!

Which one? I just read the Paranormal Investigators and found it very entertaining and well written. I'd love to see that as a series. So what was the outcome of your meetings?

Maeve ThunderChild

CONGRATS -- I hope things are proceeding full speed ahead!

Krista Crawford

Christine, it is the Paranormal Investigators! I've added some scenes, including a different opener, stretched out some other scenes and had my first round of notes on the synopsis, which went well. My big hurdle is tackling the ending because as a series, it was set up as a continuation, a "this is going to keep going next week" sort of thing so I'm working on changing that to a more fitting movie ending. Thanks all for the congrats and well wishes! Writing has been my salvation since I've been laid off of work since April with the pandemic.

Christine Capone

Krista I could picture an Indiana Jones or Ocean's Eleven type situation. Making it more of an obstacle to get the piece where she has to tackle paranormal activity and makes a plan on how to execute it. Maybe the first time wasn't much of a success and the ending of course is her retrieving it and maybe setting it up as a sequel. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck!! Writing has helped me as well : )
