Hi all.
Just thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm a British-based writer who is looking to get back on the horse, as it were. I started writing many years' back, and for a time, had a small amount of success placing in a few contests, having a short-movie produced, and writing for a handful of publications.
Unfortunately, life got in the way and my progress ground to a halt. I'm starting to feel like I'm getting on a bit now, so have decided it's s*** or get off the pot time, and am making a more concerted effort to achieve my goals again.
I tend to write horror, sci-fi, or fantasy, although I do occasionally dabble in drama and action.
Glad to be here and hope to see some of you around.
Apologies for my profile image, btw. I've never been that fond of being in front of a camera, and have very few images of myself... and in lockdown, well let's just say my waistline has been growing along with my hair so I've thrown up a very old daft picture I did for something years back.
Still... that's just another item on the personal growth to-do list, right?

Hi, John Austin and welcome! It's great to know you're getting back into the swing of things. I certainly know how life can throw a curve ball. Congrats on all your success! Stage 32 is a great way to get back in and build a community. The Writers' Room is one of the best ways I've found to really work on my craft, learn about the business and spend some virtual time with other creatives. In the Room, we're able to work on pitches, give and receive script coverage, hold table reads, zoom cafes to write, have the opportunity to pitch to working executives (and so much more!) all LIVE! If you would like to try it out for a free month, please reach out to Jason Mirch (j.mirch@stage32.com) the Director of Script Services. In the meantime, check out the "Education" and "Script Services" tabs here to see some of the amazing classes, webinars and opportunities to submit for script coverage, pitch or speak with a mentor. If you need guidance on which executive may align best with your script for any of the services, Jason is an amazing help. I've taken advantage of many of these resources, including being a Writers' Room member and I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat! Happy writing!

Hey, John Austin! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage 32. If you'd like to learn more about myself and the Stage32 Team, we have an intro blog: https://www.stage32.com/blog/Meet-the-Stage-32-Team Nice to meet you and welcome to the community!
So glad you found your way back to writing again, and writing lead you here! What are you working on now?
I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely reach out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read!
Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:
https://www.stage32.com/blog/Find-Your-Community-on-Stage-32
Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!
Hi Karen! Many thanks for the kind welcome. Apologies for the delayed reply. I'm currently working on a supernatural/horror pilot script.
Thanks for all the helpful links as well. I'll be sure to check them out!
