Pitch Sessions

Which sites offer the ability to see complete screenplay pitch sessions, so that writers can see, for free, how they happen, and study them? Samples of great pitches out there? Samples of pitches that create connections? Even crummy pitches? Anything?

Noel Thompson

Holly Hunt If you join the writer's room here, every week there is a pitch practice zoom, and once a month is a Pitch Tank where writers pitch to an executive and get instant feedback. As a member you also have access to the vault of previous Pitch Tank sessions (about 20 sessions 5 writers/per session, so 100 pitches plus feedback).

Hi, Holly Hunt! Noel is exactly right! People who want to work on pitches have the opportunity to work and rework them after feedback again and again in the practice pitch tank. Even joining in and watching is super helpful. And as Noel was saying - the monthly pitch sessions with exec’s are amazing. Real time feedback from exec’s... that’s priceless. If you want to try the Writers’ Room for a free month, please email Jason Mirch (j.mirch@stage32.com), the Director of Script Services. There are also other amazing benefits of the Writers’ Room, including giving and receiving script coverage, learning about the craft and business, writers’ cafes, table reads and so much more. I think you’ll really love it!

Hello Holly. I am also a member of the Writers Room. It's a great place to network with other screenwriters, get feedback on your work and practice your pitch. Jason Mirch, Director of Script Services, provides webinars every Wednesday at 4:00 pm PST and present a variety of topics, including the opportunity to pitch to an Executive and interview an Executive about the industry. All of these webinars are interactive where we can ask questions etc. Jason is willing to give new writers a 30-day free trial to see if what is offered is a good fit for you. I find the Writers Room invaluable and have subscribed to it for over a year. Hope to see you online.

I second, third, fourth - FIFTH! The Writer's Room Pitch Practice. Such an invaluable tool! Also, we record our Wednesday Webcasts, which includes a monthly Pitch Tank, so you can re-watch those verbal pitches.

In the meantime, you can use the Stage 32 free Pitching Guidebook to help structure your pitch, both your 2-page pitch document and your 5-minute verbal pitch: https://www.stage32.com/sites/stage32.com/themes/two/pdfs/happy-writers/...

This is a blog with some great examples of pitch decks: https://www.stage32.com/blog/10-TV-Series-Bibles-You-Must-Download-and-Read

Keep at it, and keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for the advice and I will start with the Pitching Guidebook. Thanks, Kay, for putting these https addresses in for me. I am glad you included the info on pitch deck examples, too!
