I'm back people. I have a question
1. The Big Break screenplay competition deadline is tonight at 12am. There is a screenwriters strke and "they" said there might be complications if the strike continues through December 2023, when the judges announce winners.
Is there any use in entering this contest?
Please respond before midnight!

Hey, Carlv Coleman. I'm not sure, but I suggest contacting the Final Draft Big Break directly.

Interesting question, Carlv Coleman. LIke Maurice Vaughan said contact the competition host to be sure. Theoretically, It's a contest and not a written contract with a signatory company, so I'm not sure what the "complications" would be. The winners would be recognized but they'd have to wait out the strike before reaping whatever benefits the contests promised them.

Yea you guys really right. They said something about waiting out the strike before the benefits of winning can be realized. It almost makes me think that I could find success myself by then. But of course that's just as a long shot as the competition. Screenwriting is rough, but enjoyable.

"They said something about waiting out the strike before the benefits of winning can be realized." That makes sense, Carlv Coleman. And it's what Stage 32 is doing with its contests (www.stage32.com/strike).
If you want to enter contests and wait, that's fine. You could also be getting your spec scripts and your pitch material ready for when the strike is over, and you could be building relationships/networking in the meantime.
