I am a member of the Hawaii Filmmakers Collective (HFC). Over the Labor Day weekend, my team and I made a 4-minute film for the HFC's 72-Hour Challenge. At 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept 1, we got the requirements. Theme was "Community Strength." Required props were twine/string and a feather. Required line of dialogue was "Every moment is a new beginning." We had three days to write the script, shoot the footage, edit it, add soundtrack and submit the film. Not more than 5 minutes long. We submitted our short film, "All One Community," with 19 minutes to spare on Monday, Sept. 4. There were 15 or 16 entries.
We had a team of 10. I was the writer/director/co-producer.
Our film qualified to be screened at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Museum of Arts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16. In fact, we are screening first out of 10 films that qualified. As of 11 a.m. today, there were just 13 general admission tickets available in the theater with 200+ seat capacity.
