I looked up "Bullitt" after you mentioned it in your last comment, Geoff Hall. I love a great car chase. I'll have to check it out.

And yes, Snake Plisken in anything. The best scene from the bad movie "Escape from LA" was him surfing over the Cahuenga Pass. "Escape from New York" is still a fun watch.

Thanks, Geoff Hall. Incredible chase scene! I think two of the things that make it incredible are the slow buildup to the chase and the chase is shown from the POV of the main character AND the people chasing him. In a lot of movies and shows, the chase is only shown from the main character's POV or most of the chase is shown from the main character's POV with quick cuts to the chasers.

"The French Connection" also has a duly famous chase scene with cars and other vehicles involved along the way. IMDB has a list of top 30 car chase movies.

Geoff Hall Maurice Vaughan I was once a huge fan of BULLITT's car chase scene until I discovered the AMAZING chase scene in THE BOURNE SUMPREMACY (2004). The pacing of this scene ROCKS! It really gets your blood pumping! What elevates this one for me: Bourne has more adversaries to contend with during his chase: The lone assassin, the Russian police, and Russian Department of Justice trailing in multiple cars. He also faces a challenge in escaping Moscow in a lowly taxi cab. PLUS, and this is huge-- Bourne is suffering with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Also, he and the assassin exchange BRUTAL gunfire. Yep. THIS is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE CAR CHASE SCENE!!

Fun Fact: I'm the proud owner of the black sweater Damon is wearing during this scene. I also own the Russian vodka bottle and the Russian road map-- see photo. ( There's blood stains on the map!)

Bill Brock ah, but for me Bill some of those Bourne car chase scenes are full of micro-edits that dissolve the tension. It’s all spectacle. Although, yes the car chase in Paris is awesome. No super powered car for Bourne, just a Mini! So funny.

I watched "The French Connection" chase scene, Pamela Jaye Smith. Incredible scene! And hectic! The scene has two chases. The detective chasing the train and the officer on the train chasing the criminal.

The most amazing SFX scene for me, so far, is the hard to believe death scene of Brad Pitt's character in the beginning of, "MEET JOE BLACK." The way it was set up is just short of fantastic. If you haven't seen this film, I highly recommend it. It is my most favorite.

I don't think I've seen "Meet Joe Black," Lee Shargel. It's been on my watchlist for a long time.

Hey Maurice, Personally, I think it's one of the best movies ever made. Not many people think so, but it is a great love story with a surprise twist of an ending. You should check it out.

I agree, Lee. Just watched Meet Joe Black yesterday. It is a great love story! I was anticipating the end trying to figure out how they would pull it off and it was done beautifully although I was left wondering why she didn’t look for her father. Somehow, she seemed to understand it all. Anyway, great movie!

Pamela Jaye Smith Agreed, Pamela. THE FRENCH CONNECTION has a phenomenal car chase! And here's the weird thing-- Director William Friedkin DID NOT have the proper permits to shoot that high speed scene, yet he did it anyways!! Hackman has commented on it also. There's a shot during the chase where I car pulls out in front of Hackman and smashes into the side of his car. That was NOT planned. The driver pulls out into traffic, smashes into Hackman and they keep it in the film. Watch for it!

Pamela Jaye Smith Maurice Vaughan Geoff Hall Thank you for your interest. I went through my "authentic movie props phase" about 25 years ago-- A life jacket from TITANIC, and a few other things. I was a huge fan of THE BOURNE SUPREMACY starring Matt Damon and began collecting a few items and wardrobe from the film shortly after its release in the summer of 2004. I acquired the items through Premiere Props in Hollywood. The items were listed on Ebay and came with very authentic documentation. My most prized possession in the stunt harness jacket Matt wears in the film when he is forced to leap off a bridge in Berlin. Now, keep in mind that Damon had about 10 long coat copies used in production-- some were the hero standing jackets, some slightly altered ones became the running jackets. What makes mine a definite one-of-a-kind is that the stunt jacket is altered for the stunt-- a tear in the back to allow for the safety cable with several layers of duct tape still attached to the inside. In the inside pocket of the coat, there is a fabric label and written in ink reads, "Jason Bourne / Stage II 5-52".

I've posted a photo of the jacket. I've also attached a Youtube video below with Damon wearing the jacket while shooting the scene. Pretty cool, huh? Hope you enjoy it.

Pamela Jaye Smith This is the sweater Matt wore during the taxi cab chase scene. Notice the large hole in the shoulder. Bourne suffers a gun shot wound and presses towels to it while he's behind the wheel.
