July Filmmakers Club Week 1: Setting Goals

Let's get rolling! Excited for this challenge. My goal this month is to rekindle relationships that have been languishing for a long time. This business is all about relationships (as we know) and a lot of times if we don't connect and interact with a filmmaking contact for a while it starts to feel as though we've lost touch.

So my goal is to go through my rolodex and reconnect with some old colleagues, friends, mentors, and collaborators to rekindle the relationship. Not to ask for anything mind you - just authentically check in and see how they're doing and what they've been up to. My goal is to do as many as I can, but let's call it people 10 at a minimum.

Maurice Vaughan

Great goal, Jason Mirch! I'm gonna add that goal to my goals. Thanks for the idea!

This is my lesson for the month, Jason. Relationships, relationships, relationships. All the best with rekindling your network. Same mission... Let's go!

I love your goals Jason Mirch Life is made of relationships. We can give so much and receive even more. I'm crossing my fingers for you!

After attending the Cannes Film Festival I realized that creating relationships in the industry is so important. Not only for help on projects but for advice! I meet a lot of people and some had nothing to do with what I wanted to do in film. When they spoke they all had insightful things to say, and every time I left a convo I gained knowledge about the industry. I also made a lot of friends just because we all love film. It’s nice to remember that not every conversation you have with someone in the industry doesn’t have to be a networking opportunity. Good luck with your Goal Jason Mirch!

Rachel Troche

These are great goals, Jason Mirch ! Especially the one about fostering relationships, it's so important in any industry. 10 is a very reasonable number too!
