Introduce Yourself : Hello from Los Angeles! by Maureen Mahon

Maureen Mahon

Hello from Los Angeles!

To all the newbies, welcome! And to the old-bies, hello! I'm a screenwriter and producer in L.A., working on a few projects. One was supposed to start production this summer, but we had to push it back till next spring (ouch). But I'm working on another work-for-hire script, so that's keeping me busy. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend and staying creative and inspired!

Karen "Kay" Ross

Congrats on the project and the work-for-hire! WOW, your story is very similar to mine… my biggest project got pushed back and I, too, snagged a few summer clients (writing and development). Do you have a preferred genre? Also, there are lots of types of producers - what is your preferred wheelhouse?

Maurice Vaughan

Old-bies. Haha Maureen Mahon. Sorry to hear you all had to push the production back till next spring. Congratulations on the work-for-hire job!

Maureen Mahon

Kay Ross, I tend to write dramas, but there's always some humor to them. The work-for-hire is based on a memoir, and I also have a TV series based on the life story of a famous singer. I do like biopics and historic dramas. The one that got pushed back to spring, as I mentioned, is a quirky coming-of-age story that was also a work-for-hire. After it was written, I came on as a producer because I loved the story so much.

Thanks, Maurice! :-)

You're welcome, Maureen Mahon. I'm looking forward to seeing the quirky coming-of-age story!

I’m in the transition stage of newbie to oldbie, I think Maureen Mahon. Congratulations on your work-for-hire! So awesome! And good to see you!

Geoff Hall

Maureen Mahon hi Maureen, it’s good to see you in the IYW. I’m sorry to hear that one of your projects has been pushed back, but happy to hear about this latest writing gig. Can you tell us what genres these projects are in?

Maureen Mahon

Thanks, Leonardo! Good to see you, too.

Maureen Mahon

Geoff Hall, the one that was supposed to go into production is a quirky coming-of-age drama with comedic elements. The work-for-hire I working on now is an adaptation of a memoir that takes place during the Vietnam war. Obviously, that one is a drama. I love historic dramas and biopics. I also have a TV series that is an historic biopic. Always heavy on music.

Nick Phillips

Ugh, those shooting schedule pushes really sting Maureen Mahon! Been there, it's such a drag. Glad you're staying busy in the interim, that's the best thing to do!
