Hello, fellow Scribe-heads? (Please pardon my blatant RIP-OFF of Jimmy Buffet's Parrot heads.) Question: Name something GREAT (or not so great) that keeps YOU away from screenwriting? I've been away because I rescued this little guy from a local shelter. I've named him PAUL NEWMAN. He's a lot of fun-- smart, sneaky, goofy, and BEYOND Super-Cute-Adorable-Good-Looking! (OMG! Just like Newman.)
Dammit, man. I may never write again.

Cute dog, Bill Brock! I like his name. Sleep is something great that keeps me away from screenwriting. :D

What a cutie! A very welcomed distraction!! Doom scrolling on social media and my day job can be a hindrance to screenwriting for me sometimes lol :(

I'm also writing a novel, so less and less script-writing recently :)

Awww! What a precious baby!!
I completely understand, Bill Brock! My puppy takes up most of my time and attention too. It's very easy for me to set aside my writing in the evening when he snuggles up or brings me a toy. I'm a sucker for his attention.

Dan MaxXx What do you drive, Dan? I, too, have a convertible (with the rare factory-optioned hardtop.) Mine is a 2004 Honda S-2000. Sadly, I've kept that top on because.... it just LOOKS COOLER!!! : )

And I bet he's worth every second of it. Luckily mine's at the point where she's comfortable enough that when I sit down at the computer to right she usually curls up on the chair and naps. Admittedly there are times I offered her the writing part of it so I could nap.

You're welcome, Bill Brock. That's a cool way to name pets. You have a LONG list of names to pick from.

For me, what distracts me from my screenwriting is definitely my creating webpages on my writing website for my characters and for my stories. I'm forever tweaking those! And when I'm not working on those webpages, I'm working on my writing universe's genealogy in Ancestry.com that I've been building for more than thirty years now. It's a mania — I tell myself I need to stop and get back to screenwriting, but before I know it I've shot an entire day's opportunity to write. That sound you just heard was me slapping my forehead!

6 days is longest I’ve gone without writing for a novel or script, (own work or others request.) Only “stop” for emergencies. EG; a friend was attacked by a Bully XL dog & I spent 3 days searching vicinity for owner. Even if unwell always manage to scribble ideas on paper & on holidays friends my friends sometimes hide my laptop.

Bill Brock - maybe doing research on topics of interest can help motivate you to write something new. It helps me.

Debbie Croysdale Wow, Deb! Great stamina and determination! I think I may throw in the towel, having just finished feature screenplay #8. I used to be an actor. Got bored. Quit. My screenwriting career may be on the same flight path. : )

Chase Cysco Great advice, Chase. But then again, I REALLY enjoy my breaks away. As a former teacher (now retired), summers off were that career's gems. As a professional part-time actor, once I finished another stage play, always looked forward to a nice break. The same is now true with my screenwriting. Nothing on the horizon. No worries.

Amanda Toney Thanks, Amanda, for the kind words. Just really enjoying my time away from "The 32." This new little guy is a lot of fun. My priority right now is spending quality time with him and not staring at a computer screen. Tick-Tock. Tick Tock. Life is short. Go with what brings you Happiness! : )

Heck yeah, that's so fun! Maybe you can teach Paul about your love of screenwriting and he can become the first dog screenwriter along the way!
