Whats your favorite movie of all time and why. The reason I ask is because everyone on this networks was influenced by a movie based on something. As a producer I am always curious to know the sensibilities of my audience and their expectations when watching films. In my opinion they are two audiences the art house film enthusist who watch films with a technical eye(shots, characters, cinematography etc) and most people who just want to be entertained(escape from reality) in story. No group is better than the other because they all represent my audience. With that said whats your favorite movie and why. And what kind of films interest you
Such a tough call...The first 2 Godfather films are way up there. Citizen Kane and Casablanca hold special places for me...Raging Bull is phenomenal...
I recently watched Haxan, the silent film, and loved it. It's not my favorite of all time, but I'm always amazed at how ahead of their time some older movies are.
My favorite movie is an often fluid concept. But one I keep coming back to is The Outlaw Josey Wales. I really admire the way Eastwood -- both as actor and director -- brings the character from a simple farmer to warrior, to reluctant but ruthless killer and back to simple farmer. A lot of story in that story.
Don't have just one favorite... way too many. But I just rewatched a good one a few days ago, City of God. I like the non-linear flow of the story (kept me guessing), and the way the characters/story was presented (almost like a documentary). Everything tied in beautifully to create one compelling story (including cinematography). Bottom line, it entertains (even after watching it dozens of times).
All the fancy computer generated fluffy stuff is nice but the message is where it's at for me! I have an idea for a movie that will inspire families and patients with eating disorders and addictions. True story!
Sling Blade Good Will Hunting It's a Wonderful Life What Dreams May Come
This can depend on the genre, of course. But those that stand out for me are signifcantly story-driven: Crash Casablanca Ben Hur Magnificent Seven
Children of Men

my favorite movie is "ultraviolet". i like the expanse, the use of color, the blocking of shots and, of course, the action. however, the movie that made me want to "tell stories to children around a campfire" was dr. no. it's the first movie i remember seeing in the theater. and i thought, "wow; you can expand someone's mind, introduce them to new locals, new peoples, new ideals and ways of thinking..., all while entertaining!" i am a fan of the 007 series, to this day. it is the reason i am more interested in action/adventure than anything else, although i don't limit myself to just that. back then, i had no idea that you could make a livelihood out of doing this, so it took many years before i would follow this calling. the first script i finished and had in the correct format was actually horror. honestly, i'm still trying to get my footing, so i can tackle this head-on, but what a great adventure.
such a hard question: North by Northwest, 2001, Miller's Crossing, Blue Velvet, etc. too much to choose from.
