SYNOPSIS:

The film begins on South Beach during the 1980s. A mysterious door appears in a dark alley from which MICHAEL ANGEL, a fallen angel with a dark past, emerges. Unbeknownst Michael, he is seen by a young girl. Michael picks up REGGIE who's just been thrown out of a nightclub and the two men meet up for dinner with REGINALD, Reggie’s father, and SALLY, the young girl from earlier. Reginald expresses discontent as Reggie is trying to break into the cocaine trade by striking a deal with narco, RAUL, who owns a local nightclub La Morena. The next day, Michael attempts to kill Reginald with a gun but is interrupted by Sally. Reginald asks Michael to drive Sally to the marina for family boat trip. Meanwhile, Reggie murders Reginald at the marina by beating him to death with a crowbar. Michael and Sally arrive shortly after and upon seeing Reginald’s mangled body, Sally runs away.

Later that evening, retired cops CHARLIE ESPINOZA and DIANA PIERCE arrive on the scene having been called in by CHIEF ZALDIVAR. Zaldivar wants Charlie and Pierce to come out of retirement and help her investigate the murder, but he turns her down. Michael is revealed to be serving the DEVIL who instructs Michael to bring Sally to him as part of a deal to deliver a hundred souls using a special gun in return for Michael getting his wings back. Michael has secretly become emotionally attached to Sally but agrees.

Later at their office, Pierce tries to convince Charlie to take on the case, telling him to stop feeling sorry for himself and do something productive but he adamantly refuses to get involved. Fed up, Pierce prepares to leave Charlie but upon opening the door, finds Sally standing outside having found their office through an ad in the yellow pages. Reggie strikes a deal with Raul to buy Raul's cocaine but realizes he has no money to follow through on the deal as only the deceased Reginald knew the location and combination to the family safe.

Sally informs the duo of what she saw and asks not to be turned in to the police as she is afraid they will not believe her. Pierce and Charlie decide to take on the case and are joined by KOLLIE, a fellow officer who just recently transferred from Pittsburgh and sent by Zaldivar to deliver some case files. They decide to stake out the area near the alley and wait for Michael or Reggie to make an appearance. During the stakeout, Raul comes look for Reggie as well but Michael catches on to the cops and Raul, managing to throw them off his and Reggie’s trail by using his angelic powers to orchestrate a near traffic accident. During the confusion, Michael loses his gun which is picked up by Reggie. Michael passes through the mysterious door unseen.

The door is revealed to be a portal to hell where Michael rendezvous with the Devil. The Devil informs Michael that he has 12 hours to retrieve Sally. Meanwhile, Pierce and Charlie, followed by Michael, go to investigate La Morena and find Reggie being dangled over the balcony by Raul's men. A brawl breaks out where Raul falls to his death and Michael recovers his gun. Sally manages to escape Kollie and heads for the alley. The group goes after her when the door to hell spontaneously opens and pulls the whole group into hell.

In hell, Pierce and company are harassed by various demons. Michael is shocked to find Sally in hell but agrees to go after the group from hell on the Devil’s orders. Pierce, Charlie, and Kollie are expelled from hell and the Devil takes Sally captive. Back in the mortal world, Charlie takes his anger out on Kollie and Pierce, blaming Pierce for everything wrong in his life. A tear-stricken Pierce goes to drink on the beach where she reveals to Kollie that she is to blame for Charlie’s early retirement because she accidentally shot him in his right arm rendering it incapable of holding a weapon steady. In turn, Kollie confides in Pierce that the reason he transferred from Pittsburgh to Miami was for accidentally shooting a hostage.

Kollie, Pierce, and Charlie return to the office to find Michael who reveals himself as an angel who had his wings taken from him for falling from goodness. He convinces Pierce and company to help him rescue Sally. The group heads to the hell and manage to reach Sally in time. Michael reminds the Devil that by delivering Sally (the hundredth) Michael fulfilled his side of the contract. Michael gets his powers back and shoots the Devil, temporarily weakening him. Michael uses his newly regained angel powers to shield Pierce and company from the Devil's wrath and allow them get to safety.

Pierce and company find themselves back in the mortal world. Pierce expresses her desire to be a cop again to Charlie and Zaldivar reveals that Sally will be sent off to live with a relative. Pierce, Charlie, and Kollie celebrate their victory with a drink. In the ending scene, Sally is sitting in the back of a police car when she sees a photograph mysteriously left on the seat beside her of her and Michael together in better times.
