ALTER EGO
By Salma Hassaballa

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense, Romance
LOGLINE:

Haunted by surreal nightmares, a high-powered fashion mogul journeys from Beverly Hills to Egypt—where dreams begin to reveal a buried identity that could destroy his empire… and his mind.

SYNOPSIS:

John Harris has it all—wealth, fame, and power as the head of a global fashion empire. But beneath the polished surface, something is unraveling. Each night, he’s haunted by nightmares that feel more like memories—visions of a dystopian world, a woman named Layla, and a language he doesn't know yet somehow understands.

As the dreams intensify, John begins to lose his grip on reality. Are they memories, prophecies, or signs of something darker? His psychiatrist blames stress. His former partner, Sophia, pleads for reason. But when the world of his nightmares begins to seep into waking life, John spirals into paranoia.

Tormented by fragmented memories buried in his subconscious, he embarks on a terrifying journey—one that takes him, by coincidence or design, from the opulent enclaves of Beverly Hills to Egypt. There, in a country echoing with secrets, he comes face to face with Laila, no longer a phantom of his dreams but a flesh-and-blood woman—real, alive, and inexplicably familiar. Now, he must uncover what her presence could possibly mean.

"Alter Ego" is a psychological thriller that delves into the complexities of identity, success, and the hidden power of the mind. It raises thought-provoking questions about the nature of self, dreams, memory, progress, and the choices that shape who we become. In the end, John’s journey is not just about survival—it’s about reclaiming control over his own mind and destiny.

Atmosphere & Cultural Backdrop:

"Alter Ego" unfolds between the ruthless materialism of American high society and the mystical pull of Egypt’s ancestral past. The story thrives on this clash—where glass-walled boardrooms and fashion empires collide with ancient streets and waking dreams.

In America, identity is curated, controlled, and bought. In Egypt, it’s unearthed, inherited, haunting.

As John Harris’s psyche fractures, these worlds rupture, exposing the thin line between the self we build and the self we bury.
