When a normal death happens too close to home, a driven, routine-oriented young New Yorker's life is shaken, causing her to rethink her relationships, past, and job writing obituaries.
SYNOPSIS:
A young obituary writer takes a hard look at her life after a man dies across the street from her. Her monotonous routine in New York City is recontextualized as she realizes how little she's truly seen. This, paired with her father's approaching birthday and it being the sixteenth anniversary of her suicide attempt in college lead her to become obsessed with this dead man. She dives into his life as a similar young fiction writer in 60's New York, deep in the heart of folk music and the Vietnam War. After becoming friends with the old pals of the dead man, she is overcome with nostalgia and returns home. Arriving unexpectedly early before her father's birthday--she discovers he's been keeping a secret. The revelation sends her spiraling, causing her to relapse into her self-destructive patterns.
