A paramedic is ordered into therapy following a traumatic loss on the job, and becomes ensnared in a manipulative relationship with her therapist, plunging her into a battle for survival.
SYNOPSIS:
SARA MONTGOMERY, a paramedic and single mother, is called to the scene of a terrible car accident. She is racked with grief and guilt after being unable to save one of the victims—a little girl who is the same age as her own daughter. Her captain orders her to undergo therapy before she can be reinstated at work. Her therapist, DR. JEWELS LAWRENCE, quickly becomes her new best friend and the only person she can trust. Up until the accident, Sara had a pretty great life: a fulfilling career, a beautiful daughter, and new love on the horizon. She's smart, strong, and independent—the rock everyone leaned on. So, how did everything suddenly go so wrong?
She did everything she could to save the little girl that night… didn’t she? Nightmares plague Sara’s sleep as her mind replays that night over and over. What had she missed? Dr. Jewels tries to help Sara manage the weight of her guilt, reassuring her it’s not her responsibility to save the world. As she ingratiates herself more and more into Sara’s life, Dr. Jewels convinces her she must let go of all the toxic people around her; especially her best friend and work partner, DESMOND. He’s only after her promotion, and using the accident as leverage. Sara needs to open her eyes and see that people often have hidden agendas, waiting for the moment to strike when we are most vulnerable. Sara is clearly suffering from PTSD, unable to think clearly, and Dr. Jewels is the only one who understands and can help her take back her life.
As Sara’s life continues to downward spiral, paranoia sets in. She begins to question her entire reality. Has everyone really turned against her, or is she seeing things through the wrong lens? As her breaking point nears, Desmond finally puts all the pieces together. And Dr. Jewels is at the center of it. He tries to warn Sara when he uncovers the hidden truth of Dr. Jewels’ past and her mental health diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. But his warning may have come too late, when they both learn that Dr. Jewels will stop at nothing - even murder - to keep Sara all to herself.
