A combat medic from Maine lands on Utah Beach in 1944 and marches to Paris and first into Germany with Ernest Hemingway and J. D. Salinger, suffering untold horrors in the Heurtgen Forest, earning the Silver Star for gallantry in action.

SYNOPSIS:

Based on the true account of Franco-American Technician 4 Medical Russell J. York as told to his son: the trials and travails of World War II from the D-Day landing with Gen. Theodore Roosevelt Jr. and on the epic march to liberate Paris and into the Hell of the Heurtgen Forest with war correspondent Ernest Hemingway and fellow soldier J.D. Salinger, serving alongside him through the Battle of the Bulge and liberation of the Haunstetten Concentration camp in Bavaria.
