SYNOPSIS:

It’s 1881. CLARA is a cunning and determined woman, who, due to the era, needs a husband to inherit her Bible-clutching grandfather WILLARD’s land when he dies. When she witnesses a mysterious stranger, HARRIS, being shot up and left for dead, she sees the perfect opportunity to improve her lot in life… Harris awakens in a farmhouse he doesn’t recognize, in a town he doesn’t know… with no memory of who he is. With Willard’s help, Clara has nursed him back to health and uses Harris’ unforeseen amnesia as an opportunity to inherit the land that should be hers. She tells him he’s a simple farmer and her loving husband, James. Willard, a Born Again former nasty drunk carrying a lifetime of guilt, plays along with the ruse and takes James in to appease his granddaughter and his conscience.

Clara and “James” embrace their new lives and become pillars of their community. What she doesn’t know is that Harris was a merciless gun-for-hire in the employ of the ruthless yet charming business tycoon LB SPENCE who is buying up the farmland in the path of the oncoming railroad. When negotiations stall, he’ll resort to anything; whether that be forging deeds or ordering cold-blooded murder. Making matters worse, Harris sent LB’s nephew to an early grave and the magnate is hell-bent on revenge.

As Clara struggles to keep her lies from destroying the fragile reality she has created, her homestead is the next in line for the railroad and she and Harris must come face-to-face with their forgotten, violent pasts and reckon with the relentless and sadistic LB.
