A successful psychologist in the bowels of a midlife crisis develops a hypnotherapy procedure that, if successful, will alter his personality and help him rediscover his passion for life.
SYNOPSIS:
GABRIEL GLODSKY has it all; his beautiful wife JAIME, their adorable daughter MIA
an elegant house in the suburbs and a thriving psychology practice. But he is dead inside. Having psychoanalyzed away all of his spontaneity and eccentricities, he can no longer find joy or inspiration in any aspect of his life.
Desperate to rediscover what he has lost, he devises an experimental hypno-therapy procedure that will alter his personality to help him better connect with his friends, family and life in general. Aided by his eccentric Princeton mentor, he implants suggestions that help him relate to Jaime's passion for opera, Mia’s curious love of John Shaft, and his friends' hilariously eclectic interests.
The experiment is initially successful and Gabriel is reinvigorated with all facets of his life. He is spontaneous, passionate and better able to connect with both his friends and his family. But, bit by bit, his psyche unravels; exacerbated by the reappearance of his childhood imaginary friend MOMO. As he spirals out of control, his job suffers, his marriage falls apart and he finds himself alienated from all of his friends.
Faced with the threat of losing everything that matters to him, Gabriel decides to reverse the effects of the experiment. Attempting this will, at worst, cause permanent brain damage. Or, at best, force him to finally find contention with himself and the life he has built.
