By Jill Godley

GENRE: Romance, Drama
LOGLINE:

A high school senior's life is turned upside down when she receives distressing calls from a young, suicidal soldier she had a brief romance with before he was deployed, leaving her in a state of anxiety and uncertainty as she desperately waits to learn his fate.

SYNOPSIS:

Jane is the girl ready with chocolate and tea for her best friend Elle whenever she has relationship problems but wants to experience the ups and downs of romance for herself. Her wish comes true when she meets Ben at a party of Elle's house. They hit it off right away, but she knows it can only be a whirlwind romance, since he is being deployed in three weeks. Jane enjoys her short romance, but knows it is over when he leaves, promising to write.

She is surprised a week later when she gets a call from Ben, he hates his life overseas and tells her he loves her. Every night he calls more depressed and deeper in love. Jane becomes more and more stressed from fear of saying the wrong thing to someone on the edge. Until one night he tells her in one breath they will get married and in the next he wants to kill himself, then she doesn't hear from him again.

It's Elle's turn to supply the chocolates and tea as Jane is stressed to the point her hair is falling out. Not even Ben's friends and family know what happened.

Then Jane is called over to Elle's house, Ben's best friend, his girlfriend and Elle gather around Jane to give her the news, Ben got a masseuse pregnant and is engaged.

Jane curls over into a ball, but to Elle and everyone else's shock Jane is laughing, so hard she can't even breath. They stare at each other not sure if Jane has gone over the edge.

Jane finally pulls herself together enough to tell them she is just so relieved that this story has come to a close. She can stop worrying about Ben and go back to enjoying the ups and downs of love in her romance novels.

Val Chernyavskiy

No "raisins". The logline is dry and does not moisturize the reader's thoughts. For example, the movie "Alien" 1979

A team of space truckers receives a signal from an unknown planet, according to the protocol, it is necessary to investigate the source of the signal, but during the study of the signal, one of the crew members becomes infected by an unknown life form. Infection of a crew member is only the beginning of the development of an alien organism. There must be material that develops into something big. Please forgive me for the harsh criticism.

Val Chernyavskiy not harsh at all, you delivered your feedback constructively. I struggle with loglines, luckily my script writing ability is better. I will continue to hone this skill.
