LOGLINE:

A Die Hard scenario in a Drive-In theater.

SYNOPSIS:

DRIVE-IN

John Walker has taken up a job working security for a local Drive-In, which had been in town before the movie theater. One night while working the night shift a group of criminals take refuge in hopes of escaping after robbing a local bank. Led by Norman Stack they make their plans to escape the next morning and as John tries to call for help, he learns they have hostages from the bank.

Stack’s men find out who John is and track him down, but John eludes them and manages to take some out as he tries to contact help. Meanwhile his girlfriend Kena Lang arrives to see him, when she is taken hostage, and John manages to save her and tells her to get help while he goes back for the hostages. John finds out that Stack plans to rendezvous with a new van and escape after blowing up the previous one and takes out a guard and saves the hostages as they escape Stack’s men attempts to nail them when the police arrive. Sack sees Kena and attempts to kidnap her, but John fights him and kills him in self-defense. The money is returned, and the hostages are saved.

That night John meets Kena and proposes to her, and she accepts.

It might be me, but that could mean something different to every individual who reads it.

Sorry, Kevin. Not really a logline. Closer to a tagline. While it certainly conveys the genre and style of story, a logline really should convey more premise detail: who the MC is, what do they want, who opposes them and why, what the stakes are etc. If you'd like more help with developing a better logline, do get in touch.
