During a mysterious incident, a large number of people died suddenly, all at once. 14 hours later, these individuals woke up fine, and with the addition of a (somewhat underwhelming) superpower. Years later, a detective is still trying to uncover the cause.

SYNOPSIS:

The episode begins with the protagonist, a detective named Dahan Kobi, interviewing a family about a strange incident 14 years ago. As the interview comes to an end, the father of the family drops dead in the same way described in the incident 14 years ago, commonly known as the Beat Drop. Dahan consoles the family at the hospital, staying behind with the teenage son late into the night.

As Dahan leaves the hospital, he is interrupted by the son tackling an unknown intruder who was found inside the father's room, who has now gone missing. The intruder escapes the boy's hold and puts up a fight with his Envein, a power given to those effected by the Beat Drop. Just as Dahan has him on the ropes, however, he is knocked aside by another assailant, the apparent partner of the first.

Having been injured in his fight against the criminals, Dahan checks into a hospital room. There, the boy reveals that he has taken key evidence from the scene of the crime and asks Dahan for his help in finding his father. After some convincing, he agrees, and takes him on as a civilian assistant. The episode ends with the duo returning to the hospital after dropping off the evidence as the criminals show up to the forensics lab to take it back.
