RETURN OF THE RAINBOW CHASER
By Stephen Davies

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

Trust is easily broken, regrets can last a lifetime

SYNOPSIS:

The film starts where the previous film (The Rainbow Chaser) ends. Gary is sitting on a bench in the park as his daughter Alice plays with their dog Gellert. Gary gets a phone call from a film producer saying they want to buy his script.

Gary then sells his house and moves to Cambridgeshire in the hope of rekindling his relationship with Alison. They bump into each other in the local shop and Gary pays her bill after her cards get declined. Alison goes to his house to pay him back the money and they end up in bed. Alison regrets it afterwards and blocks Gary.

Gary decides it’s time to move on and deletes all her photos. Whilst sitting in the local pub a chance meeting with a lady (Emma)turns into romance and they fall in love.

A year goes by and Gary gets a call to say Joe is in hospital. He rushes off unaware that his past is about to catch up with him. Whilst away his house is broken into. Joe passes away and leaves the club to Gary. A little while later Gary gets arrested for allegedly stalking and harassing Alison. Gary denies all charges and is sure someone is trying to set him up, but who?

Heartbreak is around the corner as Gelert dies. Things don’t get any easier as he’s run off the road late one night. The accident leaves Gary in a coma fighting for his life. Whilst in hospital Gary is cleared of the charges after a memory stick is found belonging to Simon (Alison’s partner). Simon is found guilty of perverting the cause of justice as well as trying to run Gary off the road.

Alison secretly goes to visit Gary in hospital and confesses she still loves him. She’s confronted by Emma & Alice as she’s about to leave. Emma tells Alison to stay away. Gary starts to come around and goes on to recover. He asks Emma to marry him and she says yes. He then gets a phone call from Alice telling him his mum has died. He later finds out she has left him nothing in her will.

Gary and Emma get married and life is looking good for them both. Years past and Gary bumps into Alison in the park. They have a heart to heart with Gary very wary of her, despite still caring. A few more years go by before tragedy strikes again as Emma is killed in a car accident after being hit by a van driven by someone familiar.

Four years go by and Gary, now in his mid 60s, bumps into Alison at the hospital. He overhears her talking with her daughter Rebecca about a cancer diagnosis. Gary tells her she is still beautiful and he still cares. Both would love to be together, but Gary is torn between Alison and his late wife.

Alice, now 25, takes Gary out for the day on a trip down memory lane in Kent. She takes him to the site of the old raceway he raced at as a 19 year old in Welcome To Friston-on-Sea, his old school and a few other places. They reminisce about the past and Gary meets up with some old friends.

Some years pass with Gary now in his mid 70s. A young stranger wanders into the football ground one evening (reminiscent of a scene from the first film featuring Joe as the old guy and Gary the young one). As he (Dylan) sits there sheltering deep in thought, Gary spots him and they start talking. The tables are now turned with Gary listening to Dylan and his woman troubles. The film ends with them both reflecting on life and Gary giving his words of wisdom.
