NEON SAMURAI

NEON SAMURAI
By Robin Johnston

GENRE: Action, Fantasy
LOGLINE:

By day, a rising stockbroker. By night, a demon-hunting samurai. When his kills begin triggering real-world economic chaos, he must choose between his ancient duty and the fragile system keeping society intact.

SYNOPSIS:

In a rain-soaked, neon-drenched metropolis where global markets pulse through every screen and street, Kenji Mori lives a double life. By day, he is a driven but overlooked junior stockbroker, chasing success in a ruthless financial firm. By night, he is the last active heir of a secret samurai lineage sworn to hunt demons— an ancient evil sect of warrior predators that now hide within the systems of the modern world.

When Kenji eliminates a seemingly minor demon feeding on fear in a subway station, the consequences ripple far beyond the shadows. The next morning, unexplained volatility strikes the market, triggering losses, panic, and real-world fallout. As similar incidents follow each hunt, Kenji begins to suspect a disturbing truth: the demons he kills are not separate from society, they are embedded within it.

His growing doubts draw the attention of Mara, a sharp compliance analyst investigating strange, patternless disruptions in the firm’s data. As she edges closer to uncovering the truth, Kenji is forced to balance his secret life with the increasing risk of exposure. Meanwhile, his aging mentor warns him that the ancient rules no longer apply, that his secret samurai order no longer protects people, but “maintains balance” within a system too complex to dismantle.

As Kenji digs deeper, he discovers that powerful demons no longer lurk in back alleys, but operate at the highest levels of finance, influencing markets, decisions, and entire economies. Worse still, the order he serves has quietly adapted to this reality, working in the shadows to manage these forces rather than destroy them.

Torn between duty and conscience, Kenji defies the order and attempts to break the cycle, only to unleash a new chaos that threatens both the financial system and the lives tied to it. Branded a rogue and hunted also by his own kind, he must confront not only the demons in the city, but the truth at the heart of his mission: that the greatest evil may not be the monsters themselves, but the world that created them.
