Did you know there is no UPPER AGE LIMIT for student athletes at community colleges?

When I was 55 years old, I was recruited to play tennis for the women’s team of my local community college. It was a second chance to live my dream to play college tennis and that experience inspired me to develop SECOND SET.

FORMAT: Half hour single camera TV series (Network, Cable or Streaming)

GENRE: Comedy / Drama

SECOND SET is a light comedy with heart about a divorced fifty-five-year-old grandmother who has a second chance to follow a youthful dream that life interrupted when she was eighteen; to play college tennis.COMPS: Ted Lasso and Community

The series follows Lina’s struggles, triumphs and frustrations, as she navigates her new life as a 55-year-old student athlete at quirky Kumquat Cove Community College.

The FIRST SEASON explores Lina’s adjustment to college and playing on the team. She gets mistaken for being a professor in her first class, goes on a blind date with a man who turns out to be one of her professors and must decipher the requirements of modern college classes (no paper, digital textbooks). She tangles with the Athletic Director over playing on the team at her age and questions why she’s doing this when opposing college players and coaches insult her. While she may not be the fastest player, her court smarts and experience, plus judicious use of sports science, make up for her lack of youthful vigor. Lina also discovers the world of senior athletics and develops a passion to help others stay competitive as they age. This transforms her from being satisfied doing the minimum in class to desperately needing to do well so she can continue her athletic scholarship for another year in hopes of being recruited by a four-year university where she can finish her studies.

Turning the concept of "the fish out of water" on its ugly head. I like that a lot! This seems more grounded than Ted Lasso and Community. I can already relate to your main character's wants and needs. Well done.
