SYNOPSIS:

Lois Webber is a devoted mother of four and a doting fourth-grade teacher at a local school. Known for her strict approach in the classroom, Lois prides herself on instilling discipline and respect in her students. Yet, an ordinary morning turns catastrophic when a former student, harboring resentment from years past, breaches the school's safety, wreaking havoc and making their way to Lois's classroom. Confronting Lois, the assailant accuses her of favoritism and harshness, forcing her to make a harrowing choice under duress—a decision reminiscent of one they felt victim to during their time in her class. As the crisis unfolds, the police's delayed response exacerbates the tension, leaving Lois to face the impossible alone. In the immediate aftermath, the school reels from the shock, parents and staff struggle to comprehend the horror, while Lois finds herself ensnared in a web of guilt and disbelief. Months later, Lois's return to work is met with silence. Her once familiar classroom now feels alien, the students' behaviors around her changed, tinged with a caution and apprehension.. Amidst this, the school principal hints at a quieter administrative role, an offer Lois steadfastly declines, anchored in her belief in doing what she perceives as right, despite the personal toll. The community's reaction is divisive; a wealthy family, having lost their promising daughter in the tragedy, stages a vehement press conference, calling for legal action against Lois, blaming her for the incident. Yet, Lois continues to teach, facing a classroom of students who view her through a complicated lens, their interactions a constant reminder of the unfathomable choice she made. Her resolve, however, is tested further as she encounters various figures: the bus driver father mourning his son, his estranged wife pleading for understanding, the superintendent offering veiled criticisms, and even her own husband, disturbed by her seemingly unaffected demeanor. Each encounter strips another layer from Lois's facade, revealing the profound struggle within. And the consequences of choice.
