ALIEN GUNSLINGER
By Alec Cuddeback

GENRE: Western, Sci-fi
LOGLINE:

Two space aliens transport to the 1880s wild west. One becomes a racial crusader and must battle the other, who degenerates into a megalomaniac psychopath.

SYNOPSIS:

There are two alien space explorers, Hanok and Zandar. With humanoid bodies and some insect qualities. They communicate by mental telepathy.

Hanok is a powerless drone who preaches equality. Zandar is a spoiled brat from the ruling royal family of their planet.

They approach present-day earth, but their spacecraft malfunctions. Goes back in time. And lands inside a mountain in a Nevada silver-mining town in 1885. The aliens mutate into human form. Hanok transforms into a white man, but by accident, the royal brat Zandar becomes black. Eventually, their personalities reverse.

They meet Dickie Garrett, a black man, who lives in a shack in the foothills. He works his silver claim in a cave next to the hidden spacecraft. Because of their odd behavior, Dickie takes them under his wing, lets them move in with his family, even takes them to church.

The aliens soon find out they can read human thoughts, even implant images to their minds. So they uncover some secrets. Marcus Vaughn is a bigot who cheated Dickie years ago. Everyone thinks he’s rich, but he’s really on the verge of poverty and desperate to be wealthy again.

Vaughn hires a geologist, who finds a huge vein of silver, deep in the wall of Dickie’s cave. Vaughn plans to steal it. He’ll drive Dickie out of town – or kill him.

Zandar reveals his alien identify to Karen, who runs the town newspaper. Eventually they fall in love. Zandar organizes his fellow blacks to stage a civil rights protest and defeat Vaughn’s first scheme to drive them away.

Later, Vaughn and his ranch hands stage a raid on the foothill shacks to kill or chase the black citizens out of town. But, Zandar and Karen interfere and save them.

Hanok is caught up in his new powers. The aliens use thin crystal rods as both tools and weapons. Hanok rigs a pistol with one to simulate a six-gun. The Sheriff makes him Deputy.

The Sheriff is killed, Hanok becomes sheriff and rules as the town tyrant: the Alien Gunslinger.

Nobody can kill him. He reads thoughts before they can draw a weapon. His fake pistol shoots enemies. Even changes the path of bullets. He commands wild animals to stampede over his opposition.

He brainwashes women to seduce them. Numbs himself with liquor. And becomes a cannibal. Stores his victims underground in a grotesque meat locker.

Vaughn tries to poison and assassinate Hanok, but the alien guns down half-a-dozen ranch hands and destroys Vaughn.

Hanok wants to control the state, America, then the world. First, he needs to show the Governor his powers.

He implants visions into a preacher’s mind. He’s an avenging angel and his murderous actions are God’s will. He manipulates the preacher to convince citizens to get onboard a “Paradise Express” train bound for the Rocky Mountains, to wait for “The Rapture”. Hanok plans to set up a force field on a bridge, destroy the train, and everyone will fall to their deaths.

Zandar tries to stop the massacre, but Hanok throws him in jail. Dickie helps Zandar break out. The two aliens face each other on the railroad bridge, as the train approaches.

They fight. Hanok gets wedged between the gap of the train track and the bridge. Railroad cars pass, and his body twists around like a rag doll. The train stops short of the force field. Hanok's body drops into the river below.

Afterwards, Karen and Zandar realize that interracial love won’t work in 1885, so they decide to go to his planet.

Before they leave, Zandar offers to change the black citizens into whites. But, they’ve experienced pride for the first time and turn him down. Zandar whispers to Dickie, “Keep on digging.” So, Dickie finally finds the silver vein.

Later, an old prospector spots what’s left of a crystal rod in the river. He looks it over. Not realizing it’s a priceless treasure, he just tosses it. End of story.
