I KNOW A PLACE
By Kim Afreeka

GENRE: Romance, Drama
LOGLINE: Two HS friends lean on each as they navigate through family dysfunction and the expression of their own sexual identity.

SYNOPSIS:

Delilah, a tough and rebellious teenage tomboy, struggles to navigate her chaotic life. Her mother, June, a former meth addict and now a stay at home mom, is trying to rebuild her family after a rough past. With her older brother Miguel in jail and two younger siblings from her mother’s remarriage, Delilah often feels like the outcast. Her best friend Phillip, a closeted cross-dresser, is secretly involved in risky relationships with wealthy older men to fund his dream of transitioning, while keeping his devout Christian family in the dark. One day, Delilah steals a dress for Phillip from a local boutique, only to be caught by Michelle, the store owner and a retired civil rights attorney. Instead of pressing charges, Michelle offers Delilah a way out—work at the store to pay off the dress. As Delilah spends more time with Michelle, she begins to question her own sexual identity, grappling with confusing feelings for the older woman. Torn between loyalty to her troubled family and her growing self-discovery, Delilah embarks on a journey of understanding who she really is, with Michelle and Phillip by her side as unexpected guides.
