Jerry, an escaped slave, was apprehended by authorities in Syracuse New York. Invoking the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, Jerry was bound to be sent back to slavery in Tennessee without hope to escape again. However well known abolitionists, plan to help Jerry escape from local and federal authority.
SYNOPSIS:
William “Jerry” Henry, an escaped slave from Tennessee, is found out by federal authorities and was apprehended by them, invoking the Fugitive Slave Act of 1854. The news of his capture in the City of Syracuse, New York, has reached the attention of two abolitionists, Charles Wheaton and Samuel Ringgold Ward. They both seek help of fellow abolitionist and lawyer, Joseph Sabine, to legally help Jerry from his captivity. However, Joseph admitted his is unable to help Jerry and his two friends warned him they will help Jerry become free again. Jerry sits in a storage room in a warehouse, remembering the nightmares of his capture and the insufferable punishments he will received upon his return. On that same night, Charles and Samuel gathered friends and attack the warehouse only to help Jerry escape once again from the law. Learning of his friend's actions, Joseph finds Jerry with Charles and Sam only to be presented with an ultimatum on being the man of the law or the man who values human life.
