When Jack Corral falls in love with Amy Lee, life becomes more complicated as his flatmates turn against him, his deepest secret threatens to be revealed and a spy conspiracy forces him to make choices that will determine his survival and sanity as social unrest displaces his world of reality.

SYNOPSIS:

A psychological thriller set over six days, it follows the main character, Jack Corral, who having survived a fatal car crash that kills his parents, he builds a successful career and shares an apartment with four others (Annette, Lizzy, Rees and Simon).

With a backdrop of industrial strikes and a heatwave, Jack finds himself dealing with his flatmates complaining about the heat in the apartment and the need for an air-con, while failing to renew a medication prescription due to the strikes.

Despite this, he meets successful artist Amy Lee and they spend the night at her flat. The following day, Annette is suspicious of Jack’s absence the previous night and an argument leads to him leaving in frustration only to involve himself in saving a child from a burning tenement which leads to reporter Brendan Clements attempting to locate the anonymous hero.

The following day Jack discovers Annette has surreptitiously been photographing his meeting with Amy and the conflict with his flatmate increases but they are interrupted by the presence of the reporter requesting an interview. The flatmates silently urge Jack to get rid of the reporter, whose suspicions are aroused, but Jack agrees to meet Clements the following day.

At the meeting in a cafe, Jack dispels any chance of providing an interview and the reporter leaves empty-handed, but subsequently finds government operative KP sitting in a corner inviting him over. Here, he is informed that Amy is a courier for the service, working abroad, but that she has been exposed and her life is in danger from the assassin Gerrat Tensh, requiring Jack to involve himself in her rescue as part of Project Reach.

Alarmed, Jack returns to the apartment and confides in Lizzy but visions begin to appear of a dark figure in his room, whispering a message. Meanwhile, the flatmates are slowly being drawn into the darkroom where Annette develops her photographs.

With Amy about to embark on a trip to Poland, she invites Jack to a gathering with her friends where Jack spots KP and at the end of the evening, the agent approaches the lone figure as he walks home.

Confused, Jack rejects KP’s approaches, only to witness the assassination of the operative, sending him into blind panic as he escapes to the apartment where he discovers all his flatmates in the darkroom where he finds they have photographs of his life dating back to the car crash.

In a rage of fury, he tears down the photographs when suddenly Gerrat Tensh appears out of the darkness from the rear of the room, instigating Jack’s meltdown resulting in a fight that moves out into the landing of the tenement building where Jack kills the assassin before tumbling down the stairs.

Lying concussed, he looks up to see his flatmates fade out of sight before he blacks out, as Brendan Clements arrives to his rescue.

Waking up in hospital both he, Amy and Clements are informed by a doctor of Jack’s medical background and his need for the medication but that he will be able to live a normal life.

Both he and Amy later return to the apartment to gather some possessions for him to move in with her where he finds the apartment is not how it had been projected throughout the story, but a small one-bedroom flat. Going into his bedroom, he finds a note containing a warning he had received (and binned) days earlier.
