In dark world without sun, a small community struggles to survive by pedaling bicycles to light up their vegetable fields. Reish-Alef suffers a stroke during one of the paddling shifts. From then, his girlfriend is brutally raped, stranger invades his room, someone else replaces him at work and his colleague steals his girlfriend. At last, the community judges him to exile from the community.

SYNOPSIS:

In a dark world where dust and sand have risen into the stratosphere and blocked out sunlight, a small community struggles to survive. This is not an ordinary community but a collection of strangers who have stumbled into one place while escaping from the darkness. 22 years after the disappearance of the sun, most of humanity, animals and plants on Earth have already died.

The small community pedals bicycles that generate electricity to light their vegetable fields and allow them to grow vegetables and some animals. Community members work three hours every day pedaling, in shifts around the clock, 25 members in each shift, pedaling without compromise, in addition to their normal work for the survival of the community. After few years Reish-Alef, a member of this community initiates an expedition to scour the area and look for people or objects in the nearby settlements. This expedition arrives on its way to a restaurant at an abandoned gas station, where the mission is violently and chillingly interrupted by predatory insects. On that expedition he meets his girlfriend, also a survivor of the expedition. Together they walk back to their community in total darkness, days, without food and without a torch to light their way.

In the midst of all the difficult and monotonous life of the community, Reish-Alef suffers a stroke during one of the paddling shifts. From this moment his life changes. While the community tries to rehabilitate Rish-Alef, his girlfriend is brutally raped, a stranger invades his room, someone else replaces him at work and his colleague steals his girlfriend. His dignity is trampled while the community judges him, whether to exile him from the community due to his inability to pedal like everyone else. At his trial, the crowd decides on his expulsion from the community and vomits the wounded man into eternal exile in the surrounding sea of darkness. The moment he is expelled from the community, he discovers that the vanguard forces of the predatory insects have reached his community.

Reish-Alef begins his last journey with an agonizing walk on his crutches, in complete darkness, with one of the crutches being used as a tool for groping in the dark. The lights of the community's vegetable fields are long gone and he finally finds himself on a dirt step next to a mountain wall that partially hides him from the continuous rain and wind. After a broken sleep, in the morning, he discovers a crack in the darkness and the first rays of the sun peek through the darkness. The rest of the world is still in complete darkness. He discovers that a river flows not far from him.

He goes down to the stream and finds that there are many fish swimming in the stream. He is standing, leaning on his crutches, his arms outstretched to his sides and he is crying tears of happiness as the rain falls and washes his face.
