A no-holds barred account of brutal hardship, as little Dicky Perrott learns how to survive inside London's harshest slum where gangs rule the streets, and the only way to survive is through criminality and violence.
SYNOPSIS:
East London sets the scene for this harsh tale of survival for Dicky Perrott and his struggling family whose lives in the Jago are fraught with brutality and suffering. Dicky mimics his father Josh when he is drawn to a life of crime. But as he grows older and wiser and attempts to correct the error of his ways, he is dragged back in by the crafty Mr Weech - the coffee shop owner and fence. His father Josh is brought to book when he commits a violent robbery and has to pay for his crime. But when he returns to the Jago from the clink with revenge in mind, Dicky's situation worsens and he is left to pick up the pieces of a changing aesthetic, without a father, or an exit plan.
This screenplay is a public domain title. An adaptation from the novel: A Child of the Jago. Written by Arthur Morrison.
