Nigerian man travels to America to pursue his writing career. He rents a room in low-income house in Washington D.C., unaware of the undead monster lurking in the basement room desiring his flesh and soul.

SYNOPSIS:

THE HOUSE ON DECATUR STREET – Synopsis

A man named GERRY (26yrs old) rides a bus and goes to his one-room apartment on 144 Decatur Street off Georgia Avenue in Washington D.C. He enters his room and shoots himself.

Months later, the landlady of the house rents the same room to a young man from Nigeria named KINGSLEY (34yrs old). Kingsley had quit his accounting job months ago before traveling to America to pursue his writing career. He has gotten little luck from his writing, and has little time remaining on his visa before returning home. He is uncertain about his future, and unable to make up his mind about what route to take with his life.

He meets the other three tenants in the house: LAURENCE (63yrs old), a retired handyman; DEMBE (27yrs old), a Ugandan native with an arrogant streak about him, and ERIC (24yrs old) a laid-back college student.

One night, Kingsley accidently discovers a door in his room that opens to the basement, where there is another door that is the habitat to a malignant creature called THE WRAITH. The creature begins troubling Kingsley from the onset, evoking him with disturbing images of the room’s previous tenant, wanting to consume his soul. Kingsley is having weird hallucinations, and is unaware that two of his fellow tenants, Laurence and Dembe, know about the creature’s intention. The creature murders two people: ADOLPH (33yrs old), a neighborhood bully, and his girlfriend JANICE, when they fatally attempted to rob Kingsley in his room.

Laurence attempts to dissuade Kingsley from contacting the creature, but he gets murdered by Dembe, who then compels Kingsley to venture into the Wraith’s lair as a sacrifice. Kingsley gains the upper hand and stabs Dembe with a knife, then shoves him at the Wraith creature, who then consumes him. Kingsley then sets the house ablaze, burning the creature as it attempts to escape the basement.

He gets taken by the cops to a police precinct, where he explains everything and makes up his mind to return home to Nigeria, this time self-assured about being optimistic with his future.
