SYNOPSIS:
Angus Lanigan works alone in a century-old warehouse, typing and creating, as the world in his mind comes to life on his computer screen. Unaware of the looming danger, Angus is caught off guard. He fights desperately for his life, but his assailant withdraws a pistol and completes the grim task, leaving behind a unique clue that will remain unsolved for decades.
His murder marks the beginning of twenty years of missing women in and around the small town of Enoch, Louisiana. With no suspects, leads, or physical evidence, the local authorities can only wonder who will vanish next and if the killer will ever make a mistake.
Sophie Lanigan's pursuit of her father's murderer takes an unexpected turn when she meets Deacon Rayne, a journalist and aspiring novelist. Deacon becomes haunted by visions of Angus's murder and the final moments in the lives of the missing women. He begins to write what he titles, The Haunting of Benjamin Weaks, which leads to an unfathomable revelation.
Sophie and Deacon begin receiving supernatural clues from the most unexpected source—Angus himself. As they piece together the evidence, they uncover the identity of the killer, but at a deep personal cost to Sophie. They are willing to risk everything to bring the killer to justice.
