In this charming, cosmic tale, a presumed-dead princess must recover her memory, her missing prince and the kingdom's sacred documents before a narcissistic nincompoop takes over. (Adapted from my novel of the same name.)

SYNOPSIS:

ACT 1

PRINCESS GRACE and PRINCE DIGNITY, a royal couple with mystical powers, are set to be crowned king and queen of the magnificent Kingdom of Love. On the eve of their wedding and coronation, Dignity shows Grace the kingdom’s most precious treasure: a scroll known as the Golden Rules. Housed inside a golden ark, the scroll’s principles have guided the good people of the kingdom to live in peace and harmony for centuries. While admiring it, Grace has a vision that there are six other mystical scrolls that must be returned to the ark or the kingdom will fall into the greatest despair it has ever known – and it will be all her fault. Shortly after the couple parts for the evening, there’s a flash of light and the scrolls are gone!

The next day disaster strikes, and Grace is told her prince has been murdered. Grief stricken, the princess reportedly dies of a broken heart, and the shocked kingdom falls into the eager hands of Dignity's narcissistic cousin, PRINCE DENIAL, who offers to run things while conducting an investigation into his cousin’s unfortunate murder.

After nearly a year of Denial’s ‘temporary’ rule, the murder has not been solved, the kingdom has gone to pot, and people are getting worried, fearful, and suspicious that Denial’s plans may be more ‘long term’. Especially DQ, their longtime friend and confidante. He suspects Denial is behind everything. His suspicions are confirmed when Princess Grace is found half-conscious in the Sea of Abandonment with a gap in her memory, a loss of her powers, and a mysterious Pig Latin-encoded note suggesting that Prince Dignity is very much alive!

ACT 2

Now, with the help of DQ and new friends MILO and WRETCH, Grace searches the deteriorating kingdom high and low to find her missing prince, but every lead is a dead end. Wretch constantly presses Grace to try and regain her memory instead of following these fruitless leads. But this just makes DQ suspicious that he’s working for Denial as a spy. We soon learn what’s really going on: Wretch is Prince Dignity! He cannot reveal it, though, because he is under a SORCERER’s spell. Milo and Grace are under spells as well, which explains her memory loss, and if Grace can’t remember what happened and discern Wretch’s true identity, the spells will cement after one year’s time…and all will be lost.

Soon, she and the others make a discovery that could change everything. They find a second scroll known as the Cosmic Source. This one speaks of a mystical force that could help her find Prince Dignity, regain her memory, revive her mystical powers, and open up a new, magical way of living in the Kingdom of Love. It also claims to be the mother of six other scrolls: Mind, Body, Spirit, Lingua, Divine Records of Time, and the Golden Rules. Each scroll focuses on a particular mystical quality that the mother scroll claims any human can have, should they choose to pursue it. This discovery affirms everything in her vision at the ark, and when she relays the potential downside of not finding the other scrolls, the group heads out to do so.

After a misunderstanding causes DQ to accuse Wretch of working for Prince Denial, Grace and DQ run off to Time Square, where she learns the truth about what happened to her the last eleven months: she was held captive on Self-Torture Island with full knowledge of the spell cast on Dignity, and of a memory spell that would only be activated if she returned to the kingdom. But she knew she had to risk it to find him, so return she did. Grace and DQ realize their mistake about Wretch/Dignity, but now he’s missing. They plan a daring rescue at the castle, in which they use the mystical forces the Cosmic Source speaks of to find him.

ACT 3

After breaking the spell that kept them apart for a year, the newly-reunited Princess Grace and Prince Dignity are ready to claim their rightful places as king and queen of the Kingdom of Love. Until they get some bad news: Prince Denial and his icy bride CONNIPTION have taken over the throne, thanks to some loophole in Royal Law. The group consults with the JUSTICE OF PEACE for a way around it. He says he’ll work on it and in the meantime, they must find the other scrolls before Denial learns of their existence.

Using what they’ve learned from the Cosmic Source, Grace, Dignity and their friends overcome their personal shortcomings and find the rest of the scrolls throughout the kingdom.

Now, the only thing left is to get Denial to confess to all he’s done. When he falls prey to a charming, talking bird who praises his every deed, Denial does just that. He and Conniption are apprehended by Insecurity Guards, confronted by Grace, Dignity, DQ and Milo, tried swiftly in Royal Court and exiled to the Desert of Rejection.

The other scrolls are returned to the golden Ark of the Sacred Scrolls, which now glows brightly, and Grace and Dignity finally get to finish what they started one year ago. After a beautiful wedding, they are crowned king and queen of the magnificent Kingdom of Love.
