THE FOURTH ONE

THE FOURTH ONE
By Daniel Doble

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

In the Peruvian jungle an American neurosurgeon finds a feral teenage girl with violent tics and twitches. He attempts to save her through a risky and illegal surgical procedure… before the jungle takes her forever.

SYNOPSIS:

When Christian Cole, a detached American neurosurgeon, arrives in rural Peru for what he assumes is a routine pro bono case, he finds himself drawn into something far deeper. Tasked with evaluating a teenage girl hidden deep in the jungle—feral, trembling, and plagued by uncontrollable tics—Christian meets Alma, a child abandoned at birth and raised by a mysterious Old Widow. With the help of Camila, a local hotel clerk with a quiet fire and a history of her own with the girl, Christian begins to see Alma not as a case, but as a miracle waiting to happen.

Alma’s neurological symptoms hint at a treatable condition, but Christian soon learns she has no documentation—no birth certificate, no ID, no official history. As the trio builds a fragile bond, Christian risks performing an illegal, high-stakes neurostimulator surgery that could give Alma back her body—and her voice. The Old Widow, Alma’s sole protector, dies quietly the day after Alma is taken to the hospital, forcing Christian and Camila to shield Alma from more than just the law—they must now protect her from heartbreak itself.

When their plan to fly Alma to the United States for post-operative calibration is thwarted by a missing ID number, hope fades. Christian and Camila’s resolve fractures under the weight of legal reality and emotional exhaustion. But just as the walls close in, Dr. Santos—the local physician—returns with forged paperwork, unexpected courage, and the final piece of the puzzle: Alma is not alone. DNA results confirm that Camila is her sister.

In the final act, the trio races to Lima. At the airport checkpoint, it is Alma—no longer shaking—who steps out of the car and demands they be let through. The officer steps aside. Onboard the medevac jet, Christian, Camila, and Alma begin their escape—not just from the jungle, but from erasure. As the plane lifts off, we are reminded: some girls are never born. This one chose to live.

Unique concept, Daniel Doble! Your logline is really long, but I think in this case, you need the extra words to communicate clearly what happens in the story and grab the reader's attention. I'm looking forward to watching this!
