Secrets and dangers lie just below the surface. A crack team of Embassy operatives must  eliminate them before they strike.

SYNOPSIS:

A deep cover agent goes off the radar when radical Amber Dawn kidnaps and imprisons her. Months without contact raise suspicion that she’s turned, or been “reprogrammed.” Now, it’s the jurisdiction of Cole Brandt and his unique team.

Commander Gris leads a raid to recover the missing agent, returning her to the Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria. There, Cole waits in a wheelchair, the victim of a hand grenade in Afghanistan.

Indoctrinated and confused, Rebeccah refuses to betray her captors until Cole convinces her with photos of her daughter and husband back in Missouri. Her world shattered, she wants Amber Dawn punished.

The sketchy details she provides give tech savvy Paxson Carter and analytical Destiny Smith the building blocks of a conspiracy. Paxson believes they want information, the currency of a new world order. Commander Gris thinks they’re after the weapons cache on site. In either case, they must be stopped. What they don’t realize is how high treason reaches.

Deputy Ambassador Davis is beyond reproach. A keen ally in the fight against threats of incursion. She’s also Rafael Litvinov’s sister, unbeknownst to anyone at her embassy.

Separated as children, Davis and Litvinov were forced on vastly different journeys. His to Russia and the military, hers to America and Foreign Service. Now, they’re back together as the only family either has known, taking care of themselves.

Davis’ betrayal of intelligence gives Amber Dawn the codes and layout of the Embassy. When the terrorists use her information to breach security, Davis downloads as much valuable data as possible before they all make their escape.

Alerted to the dangers, Gris, Cole, Paxson and Destiny ambush Davis and Amber Dawn in the subterranean garage below the streets of Sofia. In the subsequent firefight, Rafael is killed before Davis’ eyes, sending her running for her life. Outnumbered and outgunned, Amber Dawn surrender but Davis escapes.
