JEWDICIOUS
By Alistair McKenzie

GENRE: Crime, Comedy
LOGLINE:

A Jewish lawyer is more than a cliché as she tangles with injustice and overbearing relatives.

SYNOPSIS:

Aliza is the seventh lawyer in her Jewish family, but the first to turn down wealth for principle. Much to her mother’s dismay.

Whitney is the first in her African American family to graduate from college. Much to her mother’s delight.

Both are sick of a broken system that lets criminals run free.

It’s time to do something.

Working in the DA’s office for little money but plenty of frustration, Aliza finds a kindred soul in Whitney. They’re both new, but not too new. They’ve seen how the system works and don’t like it. Or their preening, self-absorbed political hack of a boss.

As a case of hers goes south, Aliza fumes. A mere technicality means a known murderer is off the hook. She can’t stand it. When her boss orders her to “fix it,” she steams.

Her Rabbi comforts her with, “Right is right and wrong, well, is wrong.” Armed with such “insight”, she heads for the exit. But, before she can drive away, her vexing criminal walks unaware in front of her car.

Not knowing exactly what to do, she follows him at a distance. He realizes it and sprints down an alley. In a rush of blood, she follows, running him over and closing the case once and for all.

Rattled, she has to tell someone. Naturally, it’s Whitney. When she refuses to be Aliza’s lawyer because she wants “in,” a vigilante team is born and the bad guys will never see it coming.
