THE PANDIA PROJECT
By John Stephen Howard

GENRE: Horror, Action
LOGLINE:

A risk-averse college student attempts to rescue his uncle from a medical facility treating him for a virulent strand of Alzheimer's, but when faced with that experiment’s Variants, he must act fast to ensure their escape.

SYNOPSIS:

"The Pandia Project" is written along the lines of films like "28 Days Later" and "The Last of Us." A college student named Abner, uncertain about his major and risk-averse in general, realizes there's something wrong with the facility where his uncle is being treated for a virulent disease, Frederick's Alzheimer's. When he visits his uncle there, things go awry as another patient attacks a doctor.

Abner later embarks on a mission to sneak back in with his girlfriend, Isabel, to find out what's really going on in this place. But they get trapped in there just when all hell breaks loose as the elderly patients grow younger and more vital only temporarily before their minds break them down into savage beasts.

Now, with time running out, Abner must escape with his girlfriend and his uncle before they're overrun by the Variants using their bravery and the outside help of his fighter pilot father and his father's soldier pal from their days fighting in the Iran War.

As a We Screenplay reader put it, "The Pandia Project" is "full-on genre and yet very fresh, with a memorable hero at the center struggling with genuine vulnerability in this very precise moment between childhood and adulthood."
