THE BEAST REBORN

THE BEAST REBORN
By Pink Matzke

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense
LOGLINE:

As reality fractures across Los Angeles, an immortal occultist must confront the godlike entity bound to his soul before the city collapses, and he becomes the final key.”

SYNOPSIS:

In modern-day Los Angeles, notorious occultist Aleister Crowley is very much alive, and very much a problem. A century earlier, Crowley helped unleash the Key of Thoth, an ancient relic capable of rewriting reality itself. The ritual shattered the Key into shards and bound something far worse in the process: the Beast, a sentient force that remembers Crowley, hunts him, and wants back into the world. Crowley has spent decades hiding, indulging, and running, until the Beast begins to stir again beneath the city.

A nightclub ritual gone wrong triggers visible reality glitches across L.A., drawing the attention of Kate Moreau, an FBI agent already skating on thin ice. Kate has spent years chasing unexplained patterns tied to her father’s disappearance in 1998. When Crowley’s face matches century-old photographs and the anomalies align with her father’s last investigation, Kate goes rogue to track him down. Teaming with Lila Vance, a sharp-shooting ex-mercenary with a Vatican-linked past, and Jack Harris, a techie hacker whose wit and loyalty evolve as he embraces responsibility. As Crowley and his crew race through abandoned churches, industrial ruins, and forgotten tunnels beneath L.A., Crowley begins hearing the Beast more clearly. Its voice bleeds into reality. Each shard Crowley touches destabilizes him further, causing his body to glitch and fracture in time.

Kate, haunted by her father’s disappearance, follows the trail of anomalies straight to Crowley. What begins as a hunt turns into an alliance when Kate learns her father died protecting Crowley’s mission, not opposing it. The mission collapses when Lila betrays Crowley mid-retrieval, sealing him off with a shard to “save” him from himself. Heartbroken and alone, Crowley escapes to cool off at a Vatican safehouse. The story converges at a stone pavilion where reality begins to tear open. Vatican forces attack as the Beast manifests through Crowley, using him as a doorway. Kate, Jack, and Lila reunite with Crowley for one final stand. Instead of releasing the Beast, Crowley turns the ritual inward, forcing the creature back into a collapsing loop and buying the world time, at immense personal cost. At dawn, L.A. stabilizes. Crowley survives, but the Beast is not gone, only quiet. Kate learns her father died protecting the world from the Key and leaves his final work in her hands. The team retreats into the city, battered but alive, choosing truth over denial and responsibility over power. In the final moments, as peace settles, Crowley hears the Beast whisper again, proof that some doors never fully close. Crowley’s journey is one of redemption: from exploiting forbidden power to survive, to choosing to become its final containment. The Beast Reborn is a supernatural thriller about legacy, guilt, and the cost of rewriting reality, where survival doesn’t mean victory, only vigilance.
