Trying to solve her inner demons, a promiscuous lesbian detective investigates suspects under the covers in a sensual journey through a witty, satirical, comedic, sexually suggestive, film noir murder mystery set in present day West Hollywood.
SYNOPSIS:
“It was a cold dark night. My loneliness hung in the air like the thick, moist fog clinging to my skin. It was raining cats and dogs and my pussy was wet.” The series revolves around the character of Donna Manicotti, a mentally and physically strong, charismatic, lesbian detective whose sexual proclivity masks her pain, hidden passion, and strong desire for love. While investigating a murder, Donna takes the viewers on a witty, comedic journey that engages the senses with intense, visually and sexually descriptive, noiresque monologues. Sensuality flows through the lilting saxophone, the color, light, and shadows in every shot, and the rhythm of every line, creating a world that can be heard, viewed, tasted, and touched. The action takes place in and around a satirical, dark, timeless version of present day West Hollywood, California. The detective office is nestled in an old 1940’s art deco building with original wood floors, long hallways, and horizontal blinds to shed light on the suspects. Inside the office, an old wooden desk, a ceiling fan, and a Murphy bed that pops out of the wall, lie in wait for the next victim. In the steamy pilot episode, Donna investigates the murder of Hollywood producer Jerry Sparks, beat to death with his own Oscar. The prime suspect is Coma Lee Sparks, the widow from the Valley who is hotter than Northridge with more curves than Mulholland Drive. Donna attempts to get Coma off in more ways than one. Poolside, Donna interviews former soap opera actress Summer Snow and her daughter, actress Therapie Snow, with a bikini the size of a sweat band straining to hold two cantaloupes and a kiwi fruit. Therapie’s friend Lena Wella is questioned against the shower wall at strap-on point. Panties are found in Jerry Spark’s desk and Donna’s keen sense of smell leads her to Indra Webb, Jerry Spark’s former multi-tasking assistant. Donna’s nemesis, Santa Monica, a mysterious Beverly Hills prescription drug dealer with a voracious appetite for beautiful women, keeps popping up like a persistent vaginal itch. She is a slippery, sophisticated, sexy, and deliciously evil adversary with a throaty laugh. All roads lead to Santa Monica and Donna discovers Monica is selling drugs in flower food packets. If Monica and Donna ever got together the chemical reaction would erupt in an intense sexual explosion. In the process of the investigation there are several good climaxes until Donna falls for one of the suspects and the crime is eventually solved. In the end Donna is once again alone. Donna Manicotti is a film noir style detective, a hard-shelled loner desperately searching for something or someone to crack her case. “I scraped my heart off the pavement, pushed my feelings down into my toes, and walked away.” Lilting lone saxophone. Fade to Black.
