When a fed-up bank employee accidentally goes viral after a public meltdown about political
incompetence, a nationwide write-in movement is started. This forces him, his clueless best
friend, and a sharp-witted reporter to survive the most chaotic election in history.
SYNOPSIS:
THE WRITE-IN is an R Rated absurd comedy with crude humor, adult situations, and political satire that follows Eddie Harper, 32, a burnt-out bank employee who becomes an overnight sensation when a furious rant at a gas station is recorded and blasted across the internet. Suddenly, he’s the unfiltered voice millions have been waiting for. Joined by Cal, his perpetually clueless best friend, and Sara, a sharp but exasperated journalist just trying to keep her career intact, Eddie stumbles into political notoriety he never asked for. Every attempt to downplay the chaos only makes him more beloved by the public.
As Eddie’s popularity skyrockets, polished career politician Edgar Williams tries to crush the hype — only for Eddie and the trio to uncover the ridiculous truth: Edgar isn’t just corrupt… he’s not even legally American. After exposing him in spectacular fashion, the country rallies behind Eddie in the ultimate act of protest. Election night arrives, write-in votes flood the nation, and Eddie Harper — the guy who yelled at a gas pump — becomes the next President of the United States.
