A superhero satire with a rock star metaphor. When all of Earth's modern superheroes are annihilated in an alien invasion, the greatest supergroup of the late ‘80s reluctantly reunites to save the world, if they can only stop arguing over all the bad blood that broke them up in the first place. (Based on the webcomic "Power Groove")
SYNOPSIS:
Like Deadpool, Power Groove skewers many of the familiar tropes of comic book superheroes with subversion, bad behavior, snappy banter, and a rock star metaphor. Power Groove was the ultimate supergroup: no assemblage of costumed heroes had ever enjoyed more success and adulation or been better at super-heroics (and “Behind the Music”-like debauchery), before or since. They broke up more than 20 years ago and resisted all appeals to reunite—not even their induction into the Superheroes Hall of Fame could bring them together—leaving world-saving exploits to succeeding generations of new heroes. Bored and broke, they are reluctantly reunited in the present to promote the release of an animated feature of their famous exploits—and sell some merch—only to realize that they still can’t stand one another. When an alien invasion threatens the superhero version of Comic Con, annihilating Earth's modern heroes, they have to put their differences aside, and resuscitate their wonky, creaky powers—to save the world. If they can only stop arguing long enough.
