When old buddies - a lounge lizard, a techno-geek, and a car enthusiast - buy into a life insurance scheme, each tries to cheat death in his own way.
SYNOPSIS:
Three friends take out life insurance policies that will make each other rich should one of them die. One begins to fear his friends will kill him off for the windfall and sanitizes his world. One writes his own obituary, test drives coffins, trades in his Porsche for a hearse and commences eating it, “eating death before it eats him.” One becomes obsessed with immortality, changes life-style to live longer, and secretly signs up for cryo-preservation. The friendship is about to break up when the hearse-eating friend must be rushed to the hospital with a bowel obstruction – a pound of hearse. At the hospital, the sanitizing friend is revealed to have been suffering from cancer, even when the life policy was signed - a last gift to his friends. *** From BlueCat Evaluation of quarter-finalist, Eating A Hearse “I wish this movie had been made instead of “The Bucket List”! The dialogue is extremely strong. In addition to being consistently clever and sometimes guffaw-out-loud funny, it is briskly paced, fluid, and rings true to the characters throughout. You have a great ear” and “unusual and layered characters, ones an audience will want to get to know, well drawn and multi-faceted as the bonds that they share.” and “fun and breezy without sacrificing depth, quite well-crafted, a lot of creativity and wit in the service of some very serious subject matter.” Also Script Vamp offered Eating a Hearse all highest “excellent” honors for its Characters and conflict.
