Great Acting Books!

What are some of the best books you've read about acting or filmmaking? Books are one of the easiest, most affordable ways to learn...and there are some GREAT books out there on acting! So let's not make any more excuses to not constantly be learning and growing, cause like Jim Rohn says, "It isn't...

Actor Memoirs...I like that idea! Wow Chip that would be so great to be able to study with Michael!

Tony Fisher

I know amazon has a fairly large selection of books.

Suzanne Bronson

Audition still remains the best. Every acting class in college and beyond, that was the book we read.

Matt Otstot

Books are like buffets... take what you like and apply it to your craft. For me, Michael Caine's "Acting In Film" is a great read.. with keen insights. - MO

Tips on Actor Business Card

Hey Stage 32 peeps! I'm looking into doing my first acting business cards on moo.com. I've used them in the past for my photography cards and just love them. However, i'm wondering if there is something I MUST add or should avoid when creating an acting specific card? I want to include my headshot o...

Can you elaborate, Sidney? Why not print your email on your cards?

Sidney Flack

As an actor, you should be represented by an agent. That person(s) is your buffer and advocate. They make sure you get submitted for auditions or direct hire and, when hired, negotiate fees, communica...

So for an actor who doesn't yet have an agent (yes they should but many don't when they are starting) what contact info should they put on their cards?

Sidney Flack

In that case, they use what they have while they get an agent.

Felicia Mariah D'Ascanio

Joseph, thank you for such a thorough response. It's helpful to get an idea from the eyes of someone in the business. Sidney, A lot of great points as well!! Awesome advice for some really professiona...

Final Draft only acceptable script format?

Hi all, I'm trying to resolve an informational conflict I'm coming up against re: submitting screenplays in Final Draft vs. Word vs. PDF. I see calls for screenplays in which producers and agents seek scripts in either PDF or RTF (Rich Text Format), which can both be generated via a Word doc source....

Facade! What facade? The only true humor is British humor. Everything else is a joke.

Michael Lee Burris

Humour me. British Good Humour is like a melted American Good Humor Ice Cream bar where all that is left is a flat stick. LOL! Really no disrespect Simon. I rather enjoy the banter. I won't keep it go...

Worry not MNHMLB (that's a mouthful) I always write with tongue firmly lodged in cheek.I saw no disrespect in what you said. I only write what I write because someone has to give this place a little light as the darkness can be numbing at times.

Chris Keaton

You'll be submitting PDF files. No need for the the source file unless someone bought the screenplay and then they can put it in whatever format they want.

Me? send all 5 versions you have as attachments. Megabytes are cheap :-) eh?

I'm Back!

So, I am back looking for a little help again in purchasing a camera. I think now that I understand more that my workflow is going to be around more stationary shots (online videos and interviews) I can make a better decision. I may be looking to shoot a short in the future but thinking it through t...

Thanks Richard, just what I may need :) And thanks Brian for you input too. Having all these opinions, expertise and experience is allowing me to sharpen my needs and thus buy a more fitting camera. Stay with me on this one, I am a complete newbie... but I'm getting there slowly.

Please post what you ultimately decide to get. I'll be curious to know what your final decision was.

I will do Brian. No problem

Best Screenwriting Software

Hello Fellow Screenwriters! What do you think is the best screenwriting software? Thanks for your feedback.

John Iannucci

The best one is the one you like best and gets you too sit down and be productive. Nothing else matters - we either send PDFs or hard copies most of the time - so it doesn’t matter if it’s FD or fade...

I use Final Draft. I use to have issues with older versions of FD like 6 & 7, but since 9 came out it has been perfect. I write everything on that except for novels. TV Shows, Movies, and my comic book scripts are all on FD. I also really like their notecard outline feature.

Pete Whiting

I use writerduet. Is it the best? who knows? But its not the software that gets you a deal! As long you find it user friendly and has the features you like then write.

Benadict Kwamboka

I suggest you use writer duet.
