A young mother and an ageing robot undertake a perilous journey across a post-apocalyptic world to save humanity

SYNOPSIS:

At an undefined time in Earth's future, humanity is on the brink of extinction. An event the remnants of humanity know as 'the burn off' has all but destroyed the ozone layer, leaving Earth's surface as little more than a dust bowl. Humans live underground, fearing deadly UV radiation and struggling to eke out an existence using hydroponic farms to create food. Only FarmBots Cyril and Celia venture above ground. Their purpose - to breed UV-resistant plants capable of surviving on the inhospitable surface. But Cyril and Celia are old, and beginning to malfunction, as is the ageing hydroponic plant which feeds the shrinking human community the Farm Bots serve.

A young mother, toubled by the the mystery of her own birth and desperate to save her son from impending starvation, risks everything to go above ground in search of food and sees lights on the horizon. She enlists the help of Cyril the Farmbot and together, they follow the lights. What awaits them? Answers, salvation... or certain death?

Minding Mama would make either an action-packed feature film or an engaging TV series. With a central cast of just two characters who meet guest characters at various points on their journey, the relationship between a young mother and a battered FarmBot, the mystery around the young mother's origins and how humanity has tackled the devastation of planet earth will make for compulsive viewing.
