Is a day spent watching movies when you could’ve been working a day wasted or well spent?

What was the most enjoyable movie you ever watched?
Into the Wild really struck a chord with me.
I can't help it, but I adore Dumb and Dumber. It really makes me laugh and laughing is good.
The Breakfast Club. I never get tired of that movie. It left me wanting more. I wanted to know what became of them.
All the Back to the Future movies are GREAT!! or pretty much anything that Steven Spielberg has done!!
two from this past year were "Crazy, Stupid, Love" for laughs and similarity to my life and "Tree of Life" for contemplation of why we are all here.
Anybody ever met anyone on here that wanted move on with you into development?
I have found myself with three writing assignments through this site. I'm not writing my own projects, but hey it is a start.
Do you mean script development, or film development. I am doing a script development. I would be willing to trade.
I just got here this past month and really only exploring and connecting in the past week. I like the company the site keeps. Folk who are busy about the craft.
Writers block = Major Head ache does anyone have tips to overcome this?

i'm going thru the same thing...i try to write each day but some days are better than others....walk away from it, watch a movie, get involved in other things but keep a pen/paper handy (old school i know) never know when a good idea will suddenly hit you

Expand commentSoldier through! Not working on something because we are "blocked" is a recipe for procrastination. Stephen Pressfield in his great book "The War of Art" writes, The amateur, underestimating Resistance's cunning, permits the flu to keep him from chapters; he believes the serpent's voice in his head that says mailing off the manuscript is more important than doing the day's work. The professional has learned better. He respected Resistance. He knows that if he caves in today, no matter how plausible the pretext, he'll be twice likely to cave in tomorrow. The professional knows that Resistance is like a telemarketer; if you so much as say hello, you're finished. The pro doesn't even pick up the phone. He stays at work."
My favorite cure for writer's block is a great idea. Without a mind-warping idea, you either settle for second best or end up dead in the water. When an idea really grabs you by the short hairs, you can't quit. For me, the pleasure of writing comes when I can't wait to get back to it.

"I knew you were American. And, of course, you don't speak any other language, right?"
Stumped, huh? It is from "Before Sunrise".

I have known Dov for years - and I have NEVER heard anybody say they didn't get their money's worth from his product. He's one of the few folks in that market that I can recommend whole heartedly. Good luck!
Ah, Catherine. Wonderful to hear. My class is soon!!
Thanks, David. I'll check that site out :-)
Hi, one note most of those seminars are put on by people who do seminars to make their living. Having said that some are better than others.
Finished the class. LOVED it!! Worth the money for his insight.
Screenwriter looking to network with other writers and all interested in film production.
Curt, my current one is a thriller/suspense drama. That's more along my line. Not sure I could do much comedy ;) Richard, granted it is more difficult outside of LA or NY, but I've never failed at anything. I'll make a way. :-)
Keela I love thriller/suspense drama . That's definitively my element . I'm actually working on a psychological thriller . Id love to get your opinion on it :)

Well spent because a) you chose to do it - dont regret B) if you are involved in TV/Film in any way it can be a learning experience and c) a great excuse to eat popcorn and candy which is always a good day
Depends on if I'm mindlessly watching or actively dissecting/thinking.
I've tried it once to relax on day...it failed miserably because all I did was feel restless and keep thinking I forgot to do something....
I always built it into my development and pre production process. I get out as many movies as I can find that portray the themes or subjects I'm working on and if I get a lot out of one I will watch it over and over again
In fact I never watch movies serching for a inspiration of a new history, I try find indications of the lights, efects or animation. Some times I search some exemple of fotography, scenary or animation of lettering...
